SK Rent-a-Car will support electric vehicles (EVs) for caregiving and welfare sites in Jeju through the "Mobility Bank."
Mobility Bank is a corporate social responsibility program that SK Rent-a-Car has run since 2018. It provides vehicles owned by the company free of charge for one year to social enterprises, public institutions, and small business owners.
SK Rent-a-Car said it held the "2025 Mobility Bank Jeju vehicle handover ceremony" at the SK Rent-a-Car Jeju branch on the 25th and provided one electric vehicle each free of charge to five welfare institutions recommended by the Jeju Provincial Government.
The vehicles being provided this time are the Kia electric models Niro EV and EV6. They will be used on sites where each institution needs them, including child care, support for independence for youths preparing to live on their own, and in-home visits for elderly care.
Through Mobility Bank, SK Rent-a-Car has achieved results such as cutting vehicle operating expenses, creating jobs, and expanding services. Specifically, it reduced about 550 million won in vehicle maintenance expenses, created 65 new jobs, and identified 18 new business projects. The revenue boost for supported corporations is about 5.8 billion won.
An SK Rent-a-Car official said the purpose is "to contribute to swiftly achieving Jeju, which has the highest EV adoption rate in the nation, its carbon neutrality goal through the Mobility Bank program using EVs, and to provide convenience in transportation for the socially vulnerable."
