Mercedes-Benz Korea Ltd. is launching the high-performance coupe model of the CLE that combines refinement and sportiness, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ coupe. At the same time, in October Mercedes-Benz will introduce a "limited edition" of the same model through an online special campaign.
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ coupe is a high-performance two-door coupe that preserves the CLE lineup's distinctive refined design language while adding the unparalleled driving performance delivered by the high-performance brand Mercedes-AMG, and it was revealed for the first time in Korea at the Seoul Mobility Show last April.
After introducing the Mercedes-Benz CLE coupe and cabriolet last year and launching the high-performance open-top Mercedes-AMG CLE cabriolet in February this year, Mercedes-Benz Korea completed the full CLE model lineup with this Mercedes-AMG CLE coupe launch and strengthened its coupe and cabriolet portfolio. The CLE coupe and cabriolet sold a total of 2,215 units from Jan. to Aug. this year, demonstrating solid leadership in the domestic coupe and cabriolet market with about a 35% market share.
Also, on the morning of Oct. 2, an online special campaign will introduce the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ coupe limited edition, which adds design details that emphasize a sporty sensibility. The vehicles will be sold in a limited run of 15 units through the online sales platform Mercedes-Benz Store, and each purchasing customer will receive two VIP tickets to Cirque du Soleil: Kooza.
The domestic prices for the standard model and the limited edition of the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ coupe are 107 million won and 131.3 million won respectively (including VAT and reflecting the reduced special consumption tax), and the standard model will be delivered to customers starting on the 26th of this month, with the limited edition scheduled for delivery in October.
The vehicle is powered by a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine (M256M) equipped with an upgraded twin-scroll turbocharger, producing a maximum output of 449 horsepower (ps) and peak torque of 57.1 kg·m, and it additionally provides up to 17 kW of power at startup through a second-generation integrated starter-generator. The engine is paired with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission, which features short shift times, quick response and a double-declutch function, and certification as a low-emission vehicle class 2 provides benefits such as reductions in congestion charges and public parking fees.
It also features AMG driving-related functions that deliver dynamic yet stable driving. Variable all-wheel drive AMG Performance 4MATIC+ provides optimal traction and high driving safety across various road conditions; AMG Ride Control suspension adjusts damping at each wheel to driving and road conditions for excellent handling and a high level of ride comfort; and rear axle steering with up to 2.5 degrees of steering angle is standard. AMG Dynamic Select, which allows adjustment of engine, transmission, suspension and steering responses, is also equipped.
In addition, driving assistance features that enhance convenience while driving are standard, including Driving Assistance Package Plus; digital light with a projection function that improves nighttime driving safety by projecting road signs such as lane-keeping indicators onto the road via the headlamp while driving; and a parking package that includes a 360° camera.
The exterior highlights the proportions unique to a two-door coupe and the harmony of AMG design elements. First, the long hood shaped like a "shark nose," designed to sit low to the ground, and the air vents on the bonnet complete the CLE family look. The extended front and rear fenders, 20-inch AMG Y-spoke lightweight alloy wheels and wide track realize dynamic proportions. The rear completes a refined silhouette with two three-dimensional LED rear lights and a spoiler lip added to graceful lines.
The interior emphasizes a strong impression with a combination of power red and black colors. Integrated headrest sports seats upholstered in two-tone nappa leather provide presence, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a driver-oriented 11.9-inch vertical LCD central display, and metal weave trim further enhance the sporty appeal.
In addition, the Seoul Mobility Show package and the Dark Night design package, which add a more dynamic appeal to the Mercedes-AMG CLE coupe and cabriolet, are offered as options. Both packages include MANUFAKTUR graphite grey magno exterior color, AMG Night Package and AMG black radiator grille, among other features.
With the third-generation MBUX infotainment system equipped, the Mercedes-AMG CLE coupe offers various third-party applications developed domestically and abroad, which can be accessed through vehicle data. In addition, T map Auto, custom-designed for the third-generation MBUX infotainment system, is applied so the linked head-up display and augmented reality navigation can be used.
Convenience features standardly provided include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a toll settlement system that displays toll payment amounts and balances on the central display, front-seat ventilation and heating, a heated steering wheel and a heated windshield washer system. In addition, the Burmester® 3D surround sound system equipped with Dolby Atmos® sound technology and the Air Balance package are also offered to provide a more convenient vehicle experience.
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ coupe limited edition emphasizes distinctive personality by adding contrasting point colors and limited-edition exclusive options based on MANUFAKTUR colors. The vehicle expresses a sporty yet youthful sensibility with MANUFAKTUR graphite grey magno color featuring yellow lines and AMG lettering film applied. Yellow accents were added to the edges of the 20-inch forged wheels and gray brake calipers enhance elegance, while the interior combines black nappa leather with yellow stitching and belts.
