Stellantis Korea is responding to a recovery in domestic electric vehicle demand by putting forward the Jeep's first all-electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Avenger. The plan is to meet the expanding array of EV choices with a model that spans both city driving and off-road (unpaved road) use.
Jeep said on the 23rd that it will offer the largest incentives of the year—and among the highest in the imported car industry—for customers who purchase the Avenger this month. Since the beginning of the year, Jeep has been providing support amounts equivalent to central government and local government subsidies to Avenger buyers.
The 54-kilowatt-hour (kWh) lithium-ion battery in the Avenger delivers a maximum range of up to 292 km (313 km in the city) on a single charge. With fast charging, going from 20% to 80% takes about 24 minutes, making it sufficient not only for daily use but also for short trips to nearby suburbs.
True to Jeep vehicles, another advantage of the Avenger is the Selec-Terrain terrain selection system. In addition to normal, sport, and eco modes, drivers can choose from six total driving modes, including sand, mud, and snow, enabling worry-free driving in a variety of conditions.
Based on 200 mm of ground clearance, a 20-degree approach angle, and a 32-degree departure angle, the vehicle can drive stably without scraping the underbody on steep city slopes or unpaved roads such as entrances to campgrounds. Its short 10.5-meter turning radius adds convenience when navigating narrow alleyways or turning sections in underground parking lots.
It also offers class-leading cargo space. The Avenger provides 321 liters (L) in the trunk and 34 L inside the cabin. The higher Altitude trim includes premium convenience features such as power seats, a driver's seat massage function, and ambient lighting.
A Stellantis Korea official said, "The domestic EV market is evolving beyond a simple eco-friendly means of transportation to a stage that satisfies each consumer's lifestyle," adding, "Among them, the Avenger is a rare option that blends urban agility and safety with off-roader DNA."
In fact, domestic EV sales have recently been on the rebound. According to the Korea Automobile & Mobility Association (KAMA), new EV registrations from January to August this year increased 48.4% from a year earlier. EVs accounted for 12.7% of all new vehicle registrations.
