Volvo Group Korea (Volvo Construction Equipment Korea), a global excavator manufacturer, together with Volvo Trucks Korea, provided equipment and personnel to help residents of Sancheong County, South Gyeongsang Province, quickly return to normal life after extreme heavy rains caused severe damage.
At the flood recovery support meeting held at Sancheong County Hall on the 19th, key officials including Lee Seung-hwa, governor of Sancheong County; Park Kang-seok, president and CEO of Volvo Trucks Korea; and Lee Myung-kwan, vice president of domestic sales and service at Volvo Group Korea attended to share the status of support and discuss additional cooperation measures for community recovery.
Sancheong County suffered extensive damage to roads, rivers, dwellings and farmland from record heavy rains in July. Public facilities are accelerating emergency repairs, but private facilities such as dwellings and agricultural facilities require long-term recovery efforts.
Volvo Group Korea and Volvo Trucks Korea deployed equipment and personnel, including excavators and trucks, to Sancheong County to support clearing residential areas, removing sediment from farmland, and emergency road repairs. This measure is practical support to protect residents' lives and livelihoods; both companies prioritized deploying resources needed at recovery sites in cooperation with Sancheong County Hall and plan to consider additional support depending on future conditions.
Lee Myung-kwan, vice president of domestic sales and service at Volvo Construction Equipment, said the company will do its best to help residents affected by the floods regain stability as soon as possible, and that the domestic sales and service division will continue to actively support disaster recovery sites to provide practical assistance.
Park Kang-seok, president and CEO of Volvo Trucks Korea, expressed deep sympathy for the residents of Sancheong County who suffered great damage from the unexpected heavy rains, and said he hopes this support will be a small help in restoring daily life.
