Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) said on the 22nd that it held "Kosme Value Up Day" on the 19th at Tipstown in Gangnam District, Seoul, for 20 small and medium-sized corporations interested in initial public offerings (IPO) and investor relations (IR).
The event was prepared to link the IPO strategy seminar and the IR mart, which had been held separately, to provide information needed for listing preparation and fundraising at the same time. KOSME said, "Amid recent stock market volatility and changes in the investment environment, it is meaningful in that it expanded opportunities for promising corporations to scale up in a systematic way."
That day, KOSME, together with related institutions such as the Korea Exchange, IBK Securities, and Korea Venture Investment Corporation, provided practical expertise and policy and institutional implications needed on the ground.
The detailed schedule consisted of: ▲ a strategy seminar including a lecture by the Korea Exchange on IPO market trends and listing review cases ▲ guidance from IBK Securities on practical listing procedures and precautions ▲ pitches by corporations participating in the KOSME IR Mart (fundraising briefing session) ▲ one-on-one consultations between private investors and corporations.
In particular, venture capital (VC) firms operating the Local Era and Regional Innovation venture funds participated in the KOSME IR Mart to support balanced regional growth. The presenting corporations were also composed of promising non-capital area companies, including from Jeju, Busan, Daejeon, and Daegu. By creating a venue where corporations could meet investors directly, it also added meaning in terms of expanding growth opportunities for non-capital area corporations.
Mok Tae-gyun, head of KOSME's Convergence Finance Department, said, "This event is significant in that it provided an opportunity for corporations to meet experts and investors in one place and interact during the process of preparing for listing and fundraising," and added, "We will actively support corporations seeking investment to achieve tangible results by expanding demand-based follow-up support, including making Kosme Value Up Day a regular event."
