Hanwha Group's three defense affiliates said on the 22nd that they held an appreciation event with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, inviting U.S. veterans who fought in the Korean War.
According to Hanwha Group, the event, held as part of the ministry's revisit program for veterans, included Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Ocean, and Hanwha Systems.
From the 18th to the 20th, the three companies invited U.S. veterans and U.S. Forces Korea personnel to their business sites in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province. Attendees included Lois R. Guin (98), who served as a U.S. Navy nurse; Robert M. Martinez (94), who fought as a U.S. Army sergeant; service members with U.S. Forces Korea and their families, among others, totaling 85 people.
At the Changwon business sites, they watched demonstrations of weapons systems such as the K9 self-propelled howitzer and the Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher. Hanwha Aerospace also arranged time for some attendees to ride in the K9.
Vice President Mun Ji-hun of Hanwha Aerospace said, "This year marks the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the June 25 War, and as a Korean defense company, we will continue to remember the war heroes and safeguard the precious value of the South Korea-U.S. alliance."
