Startruck Korea Co., Ltd. (CEO Dong Geun-tae) held the official launch event for Mercedes-Benz's next-generation flagship tractor the new Actros L ProCabin and the digital vehicle management solution Fleetboard on the 18th at the Mercedes-Benz Truck Star Center in Asan, Chungnam.
The Actros from Mercedes-Benz Trucks has maintained its status as a flagship heavy truck in the global long-haul market since its first release in 1996 based on outstanding efficiency and safety. The new Actros L with ProCabin is a partial facelift model based on the fifth-generation Actros released in 2020, but it has evolved almost into a full redesign through innovative exterior design and the extensive application of advanced safety technologies.
Fleetboard, launched together, is a smart digital solution specialized in efficient operation and vehicle management for commercial vehicles. Based on Mercedes-Benz Trucks' more than 20 years of commercial vehicle telematics operational know-how, it reduces total cost of ownership (Total Cost of Ownership, TCO) and maximizes customers' business revenue. It was launched globally in 2000 and has been widely used, and this release marks its first introduction to the domestic market.
Dong Geun-tae, CEO of Startruck Korea, said at the site that Startruck Korea officially launched as a joint venture between Hyosung Group and Daimler Truck on Sep. 2, and announced the new company's vision, saying the launch of the new Actros L ProCabin and Fleetboard will mark the start of providing customers with differentiated value and services based on global technology and domestic partnerships, and that the company will establish itself as the most trusted partner in the domestic commercial vehicle market.
Antonio Randazzo, CEO of Startruck Korea, said the new Actros L ProCabin and Fleetboard will raise customers' revenue while, based on advanced technology, once again setting a new standard for premium commercial vehicles, and that Startruck Korea will continue to lead the domestic commercial vehicle market through innovative transport solutions.
Startruck Korea will extend the warranty period for genuine parts on all fifth-generation models, including the newly revealed new Actros L ProCabin, from the current one year to two years starting Oct. 2025. To commemorate the launch of the new Actros L ProCabin, it will offer repurchase benefits and, through a newly introduced exclusive financing program, provide for the first time among imported commercial vehicles a maximum 120-month installment plan, ultra-low interest rate products at industry-low levels, a total-loss insurance package for up to two years, and various deferment and grace programs, offering a range of customer benefits.
The new Actros L ProCabin has a completely different exterior from the previous model. ProCabin symbolizes a premium cab design that comprehensively considers operational efficiency, safety and convenience. Improvements in external design alone achieve up to a 3% fuel efficiency improvement, delivering innovations that meet the demands of long-haul customers.
The vehicle's front end guides airflow smoothly around the vehicle by minimizing vertical gaps through an 80mm longer front end, precise body sealing and improved connections between the bumper and the boarding area. Lowered front height, dedicated underbody panels, aerodynamic A-pillars and front mirror housings are also applied to minimize air resistance and wind noise.
In addition, various aero parts newly applied, such as the roof air deflector and free spoiler, expanded side deflectors, aerodynamic side skirts and front fender skirts, optimize airflow across the entire vehicle and maximize efficiency. Full-section LED lighting improves driving visibility and completes a more premium image.
The new Actros L ProCabin provides a comfortable and pleasant driving environment even during long-distance driving through ergonomic design and a driver-centered advanced digital system.
The latest Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2, which may be applied depending on the time of delivery, offers a safer and more comfortable operating environment through a significantly improved UI/UX. It consists of a 12.3-inch main display and a newly designed 10.25-inch auxiliary display, and the new integrated switch panel allows easy and quick menu control and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. chrome trim, a slimmer mirrorcam display bezel and upgraded door panels are also applied to present a premium design.
The cab is offered in three specifications by height—Stream, Big and Giga Space—and creates a comfortable and luxurious resting space with an extra comfort mattress that is 150mm high, 50% thicker than before. Other long-haul conveniences applied include a gooseneck LED reading light, twin cooler and LED ambient lighting. (Some features may vary by model)
The new Actros L ProCabin is equipped with the third-generation OM471 engine, which boasts class-leading performance to deliver powerful driving performance and high fuel efficiency. (Engine specifications may vary by detailed model)
The OM471 engine produces up to 530 horsepower and 265.1 kgf·m of strong torque. It also applies the Powershift Advanced automatic transmission for precise and smooth shifting and Full Air Suspension that can adjust ride height according to road conditions to support comfortable driving. In addition, the Predictive Powertrain Control+ that automatically optimizes output and shifting according to terrain reduces unnecessary fuel consumption and component wear, securing long-term maintenance cost savings and safety at the same time.
The upgraded Active Brake Assist 6 increases high-performance detection sensors from one to five to implement 270° fused detection technology and performs multi-lane monitoring. It recognizes vehicles up to a distance of 250m ahead and can react to stationary objects even on curves. It also executes full braking for moving or oncoming pedestrians and bicycles at speeds up to 60km/h.
The newly added Active Sideguard Assist 2 widely detects blind spots on both sides of the vehicle to warn of potential danger when turning left or right or changing lanes, and when necessary intervenes with automatic braking to help prevent accidents. The newly equipped Front Guard Assist detects obstacles in blind spots within about 4m in front of the vehicle. When a frontal object is detected while stopped or driving at 15km/h or less, it provides visual or auditory warnings to the driver. This reduces the risk of collisions with pedestrians and bicycles even when operating large trucks with limited visibility, strengthening social safety responsibilities.
Active Drive Assist 3 is an integrated system that encompasses lane keeping assist, Proximity Control Assist and Servotwin Steering functions, and it reliably supports level 2 partial autonomous driving not only on highways but also on ordinary roads. In particular, through fusion with Active Sideguard Assist 2 and Active Brake Assist 6, it implements more advanced automation functions such as active steering intervention during lane changes and precise braking during collision avoidance.
Fleetboard is a connectivity platform that Startruck Korea is introducing domestically for the first time, raising both operational efficiency and safety for commercial vehicles. Startruck Korea will provide Fleetboard free for three years to customers who purchase all models of the 2026 Actros and Arocs, and will support service enhancement updates during that period at no additional expense. Fleetboard provides driver reports that analyze driving patterns based on driver-specific driving data such as fuel consumption, average speed and idle time. Through this, practical effects such as up to a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency, guidance for predictive and low-wear driving, reduced accident risk, and reductions in vehicle maintenance costs and carbon emissions can be expected.
Startruck Korea plans to sequentially expand advanced functions for Fleetboard such as remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance and connected services. By monitoring vehicle conditions in real time and detecting warning signals in advance across some 1,200 items, it minimizes unexpected stops due to breakdowns.
