Doosan Robotics said on the 15th that it opened the Doosan Robotics Innovation Center. Doosan Robotics created the Innovation Center to bring together dispersed related teams, integrate research and development (R&D) capabilities, and maximize synergy.
The center was built with a floor area of 2,000 pyeong in Gumi-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi. The company plans to use the center for ▲ development of advanced technologies for intelligent robot solutions and humanoids ▲ advancement of robot hardware ▲ development of artificial intelligence (AI) specialized for robots ▲ securing software capabilities.
As the center consolidates companywide resources needed for R&D, it can handle everything from developing core robot parts such as high-performance drive modules, controllers, and torque sensors, to AI-based motion research, development of new solutions including palletizing and welding, and quality testing.
Doosan Robotics also plans to develop practical humanoid-related technologies at the center. It will focus on ▲ "multi-arm simultaneous control technology," which controls multiple arms at the same time ▲ collision avoidance technology ▲ "long-horizon task technology," in which robots plan on their own and perform complex tasks.
Kim Min-pyo, CEO of Doosan Robotics, said, "Since Apr. 4 we declared AI innovation, we have been sequentially pushing key initiatives to leap forward as an intelligent robot solutions company, including hiring specialized talent, reorganizing teams, acquiring a U.S. robot solutions company, and opening the Innovation Center."
