Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) said on the 11th that it will supply four Surion-based helicopters for wildfire suppression to the Korea Forest Service.
With this contract worth 131.2 billion won concluded, the number of Surions among roughly 120 government-use helicopters has reached 39. The contracted quantity is the largest under a single Korea Forest Service standard.
The helicopters to be supplied to the Korea Forest Service will be equipped with night-vision devices that enable nighttime wildfire suppression missions and a new 2.5 t (ton) belly-mounted water tank for enhanced suppression capability.
A KAI official said, "We will expand wildfire response capabilities with enhanced suppression performance and deliver results in the export market as well."
