Bae Sang-geun, former executive director of The Federation of Korean Industries, will take office as head of the Gangwon Research Institute on the 15th. The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Council's special committee for the confirmation hearing of the Gangwon Research Institute head adopted a progress report on the 10th with an opinion of "qualified" for nominee Bae. The term of the Gangwon Research Institute head is three years.
The confirmation hearing special committee highly evaluated that nominee Bae has a firm vision and philosophy to lead the institute, as well as experience serving as an executive at The Federation of Korean Industries and the Korea Economic Research Institute and extensive knowledge as an economist.
Nominee Bae holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Missouri in the United States and has served as a member of the National Pension Fund Management Committee, head of the Economic Headquarters at the Federation of Korean Industries (now The Federation of Korean Industries), and vice president of the Korea Economic Research Institute.
