The Italian luxury car brand Maserati set a new milestone in the global car collector market.
At the Monterey Jet Center Auction held by Broad Arrow (hosted by Hagerty Company) during Monterey Car Week in California, United States, in August, a 2005 MC12 Stradale was sold for $5.2 million (Hanwha about 7.2 billion won).
The MC12 Stradale, limited to a total of 50 worldwide (25 in 2004, 25 in 2005), embodies Maserati's extreme performance, outstanding engineering and bold design philosophy.
The 5,988cc V12 engine produces 630 horsepower at 7,500 rpm, and with its white body and blue accents that commemorate the Maserati Birdcage Type 61 built from 1959 to 1961, it displays a distinctive charm. Even 20 years after its release, it continues to receive passionate love from car enthusiasts and collectors around the world.
As a result of this auction, the MC12 Stradale surpassed its previous auction price by 37% and became the highest-priced vehicle among modern Maseratis.
The MC12 Stradale was born as the road-going version of the MC12 GT1, which dominated the FIA GT series from 2004 to 2010. The MC12 GT1 secured a total of 14 titles and 22 victories, including two constructors' cups, five drivers' championships, six team championships and three Spa 24 Hours wins, cementing its place as a racing legend. This racing DNA made the MC12 an icon symbolizing cutting-edge technology, timeless design and world-class performance.
The 2025 Monterey Car Week auction results show global strong interest in supercars that combine sports heritage, rarity and technological innovation, beyond the collector value of the MC12 Stradale. In a market that values brand authenticity and legacy, Maserati continues its era-defying performance and reputation through the limited-edition MCXtrema.
