On the 2nd (local time), POSCO Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the global safety consulting firm SGS in Geneva, Switzerland, to innovate POSCO Group's safety management system. This is part of the 'safety management innovation plan' announced in July.
Through this cooperation, POSCO Group plans to thoroughly examine the safety systems in the institutional sector of construction and establish effective advanced processes. A safety diagnosis regarding POSCO E&C, which has experienced a series of recent accidents, will also begin this month.
SGS is a company specialized in construction and plant diagnostics, with over 2,600 branches worldwide. POSCO Group noted, 'We also met with the safety consulting specialist dss+ to discuss cooperation plans regarding the overall safety solutions of POSCO Group.'
On that day, Jang In-hwa, chairman of POSCO Group, said, 'We will boldly innovate in all areas—systems, culture, and technology—to dramatically raise POSCO Group's safety level and take the lead in creating a workplace where all workers can work safely.'
In response to a series of fatal accidents on-site, POSCO Group announced on July 31 that it would form a safety diagnosis task force (TF) and push forward with plans to establish a safety specialist company. Chairman Jang is also personally overseeing the group's safety management enhancement plans, demonstrating a commitment to prioritizing safety.
