The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) announced on the 3rd that it held a joint policy seminar with the World Bank at the International Convention Center Jeju in Seogwipo, Jeju, on the 2nd.

This seminar was prepared to transfer the Korean model of small and medium-sized enterprises to emerging countries and strengthen the global cooperation network. About 40 participants attended, including World Bank officials and policymakers from small and medium-sized enterprises from seven countries, including Vietnam and the Philippines.

South Korea's small and medium-sized enterprises have leapfrogged into global corporations within a manufacturing-centered industrial structure. In this process, KOSME comprehensively supported policy funds, startups, and overseas market entry.

KOSME will share its support policies for small and medium-sized enterprises at the seminar. It will also discuss the support projects of each country's small and medium-sized enterprises and explore long-term cooperation measures between KOSME and local institutions. Lastly, it will address the transfer of the Korean model for small and medium-sized enterprise growth as a main agenda.

Additionally, as a side event, they visited local representative corporations, Osulloc and Jeju Beer Company, to directly confirm industrial cases reflecting regional characteristics. Through this, they took time to review the growth models of the support policies discussed at the seminar.

Park Jang-hyuk, the global growth director of KOSME, noted, "This seminar is significant in that it has shared South Korea's small and medium-sized enterprise growth model with the world and laid the groundwork for new global cooperation," adding, "We will continue to pass KOSME's know-how to emerging countries through continuous cooperation with the World Bank and extend this to the global expansion of our small and medium-sized enterprises."
