A joint venture called 'Star Truck Korea,' co-founded by FMK, a subsidiary of Hyosung Group, and Daimler Trucks, the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, officially launched on the 1st.
The two companies aim to combine FMK's expertise in the imported car market with Daimler Trucks' global top-tier technology to establish a customer-centric integrated business system.
Star Truck Korea will be operated under the leadership of CEO Dong Geun-tae, who is from FMK, and Antonio Landazo, the existing CEO of Daimler Trucks Korea. The new name reflects a commitment to inherit the star associated with Mercedes-Benz while establishing itself as a premium brand with expertise in the domestic commercial vehicle market.
Star Truck Korea plans to strengthen its portfolio with not only key models such as the large tractor Actros, medium and large dump and cargo trucks Aros, medium cargo truck Atego, and multipurpose special truck Unimog, but also future-oriented commercial vehicle products like the electric truck e-Actros and hydrogen fuel cell truck GenH2.
Hyosung Group has built expertise in the imported car market through its subsidiary FMK, which has been the official importer of the Italian premium automobile brands Ferrari and Maserati since 2007. Daimler Trucks' premium commercial vehicle brands, Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses, first entered the domestic market in 2003 and have provided products and services through Daimler Trucks Korea, established in 2007.
