Renault Korea, which created a sensation in the domestic market with its midsize Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), the Grand Koleos, is targeting the domestic electric vehicle market with its new pure electric SUV, the Scenic E-Tech. The Scenic is characterized by its availability at a lower price than in France despite the inclusion of various specifications typically experienced in luxury brand vehicles.
According to the completed vehicle industry on the 28th, Renault Korea applied 30 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to the Scenic E-Tech, as well as a sound system developed in collaboration with French electronic music master Jean-Michel Jarre and Renault, and a solar panoramic sunroof featuring high-end specifications. Nevertheless, it priced the vehicle 20 to 30 million won cheaper than in France. The Scenic costs over 68 million won in France but starts at over 46 million won domestically.
First of all, the Scenic is equipped with advanced features covering driving and parking. A representative feature is the lane offset adjustment function. This function assists with roadside parking or avoiding two-wheeled vehicles at speeds of less than 50 km/h when the lane keeping assist feature is active. By slightly turning the steering wheel, the lane keeping assist feature maintains its function while adjusting the vehicle's position, securing a passage for emergency vehicles or two-wheeled vehicles.
The distinctive sound system exclusive to the Scenic is also noted as a feature. The Scenic is equipped with a sound system developed in collaboration with Jean-Michel Jarre and the global vehicle audio brand Harman Kardon. It offers a total of five modes (studio, podcast, concert, immersive, club) to passengers. A representative from Renault Korea noted, "It is designed to optimize effects according to the sound."
Additionally, the solar panoramic sunroof is designed to control the influx of light. Developed in collaboration with the global environmental corporation Saint-Gobain, this sunroof has a total area of 1.65 square meters and uses 50% recycled glass. It allows for the adjustment of transparency for front and rear seats. With a large glass area enhancing openness while also reducing vehicle weight, it is designed with a double-glazed structure, which Renault Korea explained provides stability in case of breakage.
