The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) met with Carlos Fernando Galan, the mayor of Bogotá, Colombia, at the Global Entrepreneurship School in Guro, Seoul, on the 26th to discuss ways to promote startup development and collaboration, it stated on the 27th.
On that day, Park Jang-hyeok, the global growth director at KOSME, shared operational know-how for the Youth Startup School and discussed specific execution plans to expand local support between the two countries.
Previously, KOSME opened a business incubator in Bogotá, Colombia, in June last year. The Colombian business incubator is part of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) for developing countries. Currently, it is nurturing 800 prospective entrepreneurs and providing consulting and specialized training to 100 technology innovation corporations. So far, 270 individuals have completed the training and 272 jobs have been created.
KOSME plans to continuously expand the entry of promising domestic small and medium-sized enterprises into Latin America in collaboration with Bogotá. Bogotá is located at the geopolitical center of Latin America and is optimized as a logistics hub for air and sea transport. In particular, it has an outstanding startup environment, ranking second in Latin America for the amount of foreign capital attracted.
