On the 26th, the Small and Medium Business Corporation (SEMAS) announced that it conducted a joint labor-management ESG activity at the New Central Market in Jeonju to prevent heat-related illnesses among traditional market merchants and to stimulate consumption.
This activity was prepared in conjunction with the 'Whispering Meeting' held monthly by region, and more than 20 employees from the SEMAS labor union attended.
SEMAS produced 50 cooling kits consisting of four types, including neck coolers, cooling sleeves, and towels, using a cooperative fund formed by voluntary salary deductions from employees, and delivered them to the New Central Market Merchant Association. Additionally, the labor union and employees conducted a shopping event at stores accepting Onnuri gift certificates within the New Central Market, contributing to the promotion of consumption in traditional markets and revitalizing local economies.
Park Seong-hyo, the chairman of SEMAS, noted, "I hope this can be a small help for merchants exposed to extreme heat during the summer season," and added, "We will continue to expand various social contribution activities that can promote coexistence with the local community together with labor and management."
Meanwhile, SEMAS is implementing activities for community coexistence, such as visiting areas designated as special disaster zones due to heavy rainfall on the 1st to deliver relief supplies.
