A solo exhibition by emerging artists Heo Ju-hye and Kim Woo-kyung, selected for the 'OCI Young Creatives,' will be held at the OCI Museum in Susong-dong, Jongno District, Seoul, until Sept. 27.
According to OCI, this exhibition is part of the 'OCI Young Creatives' program, which discovers and supports promising artists under 35 years old. It showcases the works of two out of six artists chosen this year (Kim Pi-ri, Lee Ho-soo, Gyeong Je-yeop, Lee Ju-young, Heo Ju-hye, and Kim Woo-kyung).
Heo Ju-hye's solo exhibition 'That One Day,' held in the first-floor space, reinterprets urban artifacts and landscapes through ink painting, exploring the intersection of past and future through various perspectives and senses. On the second floor, Kim Woo-kyung presents artistic works based on the theme 'Spreading Out for Summer,' which includes installation pieces that encourage audience participation, visualizing the dynamics and autonomy between objects and embodying the flow of sensory experience in the space.
On the 30th, Heo and Kim will participate in an exhibition tour program called 'ARTISTOUR,' where they will walk through the exhibition space and introduce their works while engaging with the audience. This program can also be accessed through the OCI Museum's Instagram Live broadcast.
During this exhibition, visitors can also see the works of artist Heo Yong-seong through a special exhibition called 'OCI Again: Precious Connections,' which invites back artists who have had a long-standing relationship with OCI. Heo's work 'Rewriting Letters' captures the existential anxieties of today's youth in a restrained painterly language, delicately reflecting the inner lives and everyday landscapes of the characters. His works are displayed on the third floor.
Since 2010, the OCI Museum has provided various support to emerging artists through the 'OCI Young Creatives' program, including a creation grant of 10 million won, opportunities for solo exhibitions, curation, critic matching, exhibition promotion, and artist tours.
Lee Ji-hyun, director of the OCI Museum, noted, 'A total of 102 artists have been able to start their careers through the OCI Young Creatives program,' and added, 'I hope that many more artists will take their first steps and establish their own creative worlds, making this an important starting point.'
