Tesla's electric pickup 'Cybertruck' has set a domestic release date. A preview will be available to pre-order customers from Aug. 29 to Sept. 4, with general orders starting on Sept. 5.
Tesla Korea announced the domestic release schedule on the 26th, stating that 'the Cybertruck has recorded a high pre-order rate in Korea since its first unveiling in 2019, generating expectations for its official release as a premium leisure EV beyond just a simple pickup truck.'
The upcoming models will consist of two trims: AWD and Cyberbeast.
The estimated driving range for the AWD is 520 km, while the Cyberbeast is 496 km. The reason it is designated as 'estimated' is that the government certification process is currently underway. The driving range announced after government certification may differ from the estimated figures.
The exterior of the Cybertruck is made of a futuristic and robust stainless steel exoskeleton structure, and the light bar design that spans the front and rear was first introduced in the Cybertruck, leading current design trends in the automotive industry. The interior also reflects angular designs in all elements, such as the steering wheel, console, and cup holders, embodying the unique identity of the Cybertruck.
Technological innovations are also notable. The steer-by-wire system allows for sufficient turning radius with just 340 degrees or less of steering input, enabling agile driving despite its large body.
For the first time at Tesla, the Vehicle to Load (V2L) function has been applied, and the adaptive air suspension adjusts damping in milliseconds to provide optimal ride comfort. It uses ultra-high-strength reinforced glass to ensure durability and damage resistance, and with a towing capacity approaching 5 tons and cargo space of over 3,400 liters, it offers various usability.
Despite a body weight of 3.9 tons, the performance is overwhelming. The Cyberbeast equipped with a tri-motor reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in about 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 209 km/h. The AWD, equipped with a dual motor, has a maximum speed of 180 km/h.
The domestic selling prices for the Cybertruck are 145 million won for the AWD and 160 million won for the Cyberbeast. From Aug. 29 to Sept. 4, it will be made available for pre-order customers, and a deposit of 10,000 won is required; payment of 19.9 million won will confirm the order conversion. From Sept. 5, orders will be accepted from the general public. The first deliveries are expected after the end of November.
