The Korean Society of Automotive Engineers (President Hwang Seong-ho, professor at Sungkyunkwan University), a nonprofit academic institution representing automotive engineering in Korea, announced on the 21st that it will hold the '2025 College Student Self-Designed Car Competition Baja institutional sector' from the 29th for three days at the Gunsan Saemangeum Auto Racing Track in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province.
The '2025 College Student Self-Designed Car Competition', co-hosted by the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers and the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, is a competition in which university students showcase cars they have created. Established in 2007, this competition provides participants with the opportunity to acquire automotive design and manufacturing skills while aiming to train experts in the future automotive industry.
The 2025 College Student Self-Designed Car Competition will be held in two institutional sectors: 'Baja' and 'Formula'. The Baja institutional sector will take place on unpaved roads, with approximately 1,000 participants from 35 teams representing 29 universities nationwide.
After thorough evaluations of dynamic performance, autocross, and durability assessments, the team with the highest score will receive the 'KSAE Grand Prix Baja', a prize awarded by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
A 'technology institutional sector' that evaluates automotive technology ideas and designs will also go through a strict review process to select outstanding teams, and the team receiving the best award in this sector will be presented with an award from the mayor of Gunsan.
