S-OIL announced on the 17th that its Incheon oil terminal has received the highest rating, grade P, in the safety management assessment conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. This is one level higher than the previous evaluation (grade S).
The safety management system (PSM) is a certification system through which the government evaluates the safety management system and implementation status at business sites every four years to prevent significant industrial accidents.
Evaluation results are categorized into four grades: ▲P (Progressive) ▲S (Stagnant) ▲M+ (Mismanagement+) ▲M- (Mismanagement-). Among more than 600 hazardous material business sites located in the metropolitan area, only about ten companies have received grade P, which is awarded to establishments that pass strict criteria. Grade P business sites are recognized as best practice examples for providing mentorship and coaching to other business sites.
S-OIL's Incheon oil terminal has continuously conducted safety awareness training, job hazard assessment training, and chemical risk assessment training to enhance employees' safety awareness.
Additionally, a safety culture survey, weekly meetings, and suggestion system operations have been implemented to encourage participation in PSM-related activities among on-site workers and to listen to their opinions, fostering an atmosphere conducive to the implementation of PSM.
In conjunction with this, S-OIL is ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations while establishing guidelines related to equipment inspections, checks, maintenance, safety work permits, and pre-operation checks, applying them on-site.
An S-OIL official noted, "The acquisition of this grade P is the result of our continuous prioritization of safety as the utmost value and of systematic management and voluntary participation culture." He added, "We will further enhance our safety management system to achieve an accident-free business site going forward."
