Taihan Cable & Solution is building its first ultra-high voltage cable plant overseas. The company announced on the 13th that its subsidiary in Vietnam, Taihan Cable Vina, will construct a 400-kilovolt (kV) ultra-high voltage (EHV) cable production facility.
The new plant will be established on an area of about 56,200 square meters (17,000 pyeong) within the existing cable factory site located in the Long Thanh Industrial Park in Đồng Nai Province in southern Vietnam. Construction is set to start in the first half of 2026, with operations targeted to begin in 2027. As there is currently no production facility for 400kV ultra-high voltage cables in Vietnam, Taihan Cable Vina will secure the only 400kV cable production base in the region upon the plant's completion.
About 75 billion won is expected to be invested in the construction of the plant, and Taihan Cable & Solution will provide guarantees for approximately 63 billion won worth of debt that Taihan Cable Vina will secure to support stable project implementation.
Through this investment, Taihan Cable Vina plans to respond to the increasing demand for ultra-high voltage cables in the Vietnamese market while accelerating its entry into key countries such as Europe, the Americas, and Oceania, where demand is expected to expand. Additionally, the company aims to develop a second global production base following the Dangjin Cable Factory by continuously expanding facilities and advancing technology.
Vietnam is experiencing a sharp increase in electricity demand due to rapid industrialization. An annual average increase of about 10-12% in demand is expected until 2030, particularly with large-scale new projects planned for the transmission network of ultra-high voltage cables of 220kV and above. As the domestic market expands, securing price competitiveness due to reduced labor and logistics costs is making it advantageous for global orders.
A representative from Taihan Cable & Solution stated, "Vietnam's excellent industrial environment, infrastructure, and geographic advantages will serve as a solid foundation for Taihan Cable Vina to establish itself as a major global supplier in the ultra-high voltage cable sector," adding that "the investment in this factory will enable Taihan Cable Vina to lead the modernization of Vietnam's power grid and expand its presence in the global market beyond Asia."
Founded in 2005, Taihan Cable Vina is a comprehensive wire company located in Ho Chi Minh City, currently employing about 300 staff members. The company produces a variety of products, including high-voltage and medium-low voltage power cables and processed wire.
