I believe that activating the venture ecosystem is essential for the real growth of Korea. Starting today, I will continuously hold relay meetings with experts and the venture and startup industry, and based on the tasks identified through this, I will prepare a 'comprehensive plan for making Korea a global venture power' in the second half of the year.
Minister Han Seong-suk of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups said this during a policy field tour for activating the venture ecosystem held on the 13th at the Gwanghwamun Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The policy field tour is a relay program conducted to incorporate the voices from the field into policies by visiting key sites closely related to major policies.
This policy field tour is the first one focused on the venture startup sector. Major associations and organizations such as the Korea Venture Business Association, Korea Startup Forum, Korea Venture Capital Association, Korea Business Angels Association, and Initial Investment Accelerator Association attended to discuss their challenges and policy proposals.
The major associations and organizations requested to innovate regulations to globalize the innovative venture ecosystem, enhance the role of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to support the entire venture and startup ecosystem, further develop regulatory sandboxes to create a foundation for the growth of new industry startups, expand the budget of the fund of funds that drives the growth of the venture investment market, and strengthen regional investment capabilities.
