The Korea Importers Association (Importers Association) announced on the 11th that it conducted safety inspections on water play products distributed through overseas direct purchases in collaboration with AliExpress Korea ahead of the summer vacation season.
The safety inspections were conducted as part of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in September last year between the Importers Association and AliExpress Korea to strengthen safety management of overseas direct purchase products.
The inspections were carried out by major domestic inspection agencies such as KTR, KCL, TATRI, KOTITI, and FITI over a month starting in June. They were conducted on 249 products that have high demand during the summer season, with 201 items (80.7%) passing domestic safety standards.
For the 48 items (19.3%) that did not meet the standards, AliExpress Korea has decided to immediately suspend sales and strengthen monitoring within the platform to prevent the same products from being re-listed.
The association noted, "As the overseas direct purchase market expands, consumer safety concerns are also rising," and added, "To enable consumers to use overseas products with more peace of mind, we will continue to expand pre-inspection of safety continuously."
