JLR Korea (CEO Robin Colgan) announced on the 7th that the British adventure brand Defender will participate as the official automotive brand partner for the legendary British rock band Oasis's world tour, 'Oasis Live '25.'
The Defender will support the movement of Oasis members across all venues during a total of 41 performances in 10 countries, including Korea and Brazil, starting from Cardiff, Wales. This historical journey, which has garnered global attention with a reunion after 16 years, will be accompanied by the Defender.
The Defender is a brand that has shared adventurous lifestyles with customers beyond being a simple means of transportation. Through its signature event, 'Destination Defender,' it has consistently created moments for customers to experience the unique sentiment and culture of Defender through live performances. This partnership was also made possible by the strong brand spirit of Defender, which values adventurous energy.
Oasis, representing the peak of Britpop in the 1990s, has received love from fans worldwide with numerous hit songs such as 'Rock 'n' Roll Star,' 'Supersonic,' 'Half The World Away,' and 'Wonderwall.' This Oasis world tour, evaluated as a 'once in a generation moment,' saw 30 million people attempt to buy tickets, resulting in sold-out shows. It has extended beyond music into a global cultural event that encompasses fashion and lifestyle, perfectly aligning with the lifestyle that the Defender aims for.
To announce the start of the partnership with the Defender, a large mural measuring 18.5 meters wide and 11.4 meters tall was installed at 60 Shudehill, Northern Quarter, Manchester, the hometown of Oasis. This mural boldly visualizes the tough luxury feel of the all-new Defender OCTA, inspired by Oasis's representative song 'Rock 'n' Roll Star.'
Recently, Oasis successfully completed performances in Cardiff, Manchester, and London, with the Korean performance set to take place at Goyang Comprehensive Stadium on Oct. 21. JLR Korea will also launch a large outdoor advertisement to celebrate this concert, showcasing a striking visual of the all-new Defender OCTA combined with the rock 'n' roll spirit of Oasis along the main routes heading from Seoul to Goyang Comprehensive Stadium.
The all-new Defender OCTA is a master of on-road and off-road performance, inheriting the tradition of the Defender while being completed with a modern sense. It is equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo mild hybrid gasoline engine that boasts a maximum output of 635 PS and a maximum torque of 76.5 kg·m (81.6 kg·m in dynamic launch mode) and can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.0 seconds. It also possesses a maximum wading capability of 1 meter, demonstrating overwhelming driving ability on any terrain.
The first application of hydraulic interlink 6D dynamics suspension in the Defender provides optimal driving performance on both on-road and off-road conditions. On-road, it suppresses pitching and rolling, providing a refined ride quality; off-road, it maximizes wheel articulation to traverse rugged terrains securely. Additionally, its performance off-road dedicated 'OCTA mode' enhances precise body control and driving stability, supporting off-road launch mode and dedicated ABS settings to ensure perfect driving even in extreme situations. All these performances have been refined through 1.1 million kilometers of driving tests and 13,960 performance verifications in extreme climates and diverse terrains worldwide.
The interior blends semi-aniline leather and Kvadrat™ materials with unique graphic details and performance seats, capturing both robustness and sophistication. Notably, the next-generation tactile audio system 'Body and Soul Seat' delivers bass sounds through vibrations, providing an immersive driving experience.
