BMW Korea announced on the 6th that it will officially launch the flagship pure electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) "BMW New iX" in the country.
The iX is a dedicated model of BMW's electric vehicle brand, BMW i. The refreshed model, New iX, incorporates new design elements. The BMW kidney grille, featuring a diagonal pattern, has added a function that illuminates along the edges, enhancing its striking impression. The M Sport design is applied as standard on all models. The front includes a bumper that emphasizes three-dimensionality and large air intakes, while the rear features a newly designed diffuser and vertical reflectors.
The New iX has also applied new high-voltage battery cell technology alongside fine-tuning of the drive train. As a result, the output and driving range on a single charge have significantly improved. As a result, the model names have been upgraded incrementally and are now categorized into three types: iX xDrive45, iX xDrive60, and iX M70 xDrive.
The base model, New iX xDrive45, delivers a maximum output of 408 horsepower, an increase of 82 horsepower compared to the transfer. The maximum torque has also risen to 71.4 kg·m, 7.2 kg·m higher than before, while the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time has been shortened by 1 second to 5.1 seconds. The new cell technology applied in the high-voltage battery can store about 30% more power at 100.4 kWh compared to the transfer. The driving range on a single charge is certified at 446 km by the Ministry of Environment, and up to 602 km according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP).
The New iX xDrive60 has a maximum output of 544 horsepower, an increase of 21 horsepower compared to the transfer, and produces a torque of 78.0 kg·m. The zero to 100 time is 4.6 seconds, with a driving range of 509 km according to the Ministry of Environment and up to 701 km based on WLTP. The New iX M70 xDrive has a maximum output of 659 horsepower (when sports mode is activated), which is an increase of 40 horsepower compared to the transfer, and delivers a torque of 112.2 kg·m when using the launch control feature. The zero to 100 time is 3.8 seconds. The driving range on a single charge is 421 km according to the Ministry of Environment and 600 km according to WLTP, which is one of the best in its class.
The time required to rapidly charge the battery from 10% to 80% is approximately 34 minutes for the New iX xDrive45, while it takes about 35 minutes for both the New iX xDrive60 and New iX M70 xDrive.
The prices, including value-added tax, are 124.8 million won for the New iX xDrive45, 153.8 million won for the New iX xDrive60, and 177.7 million won for the New iX M70 xDrive.
