A liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) leak incident occurred at the E1 Incheon base in Songdo, Yeonsu District.
An E1 official said, "Around 12:35 p.m. on the 6th, LPG gas leaked at the E1 Incheon base in the Songdo New Port area of Yeonsu District, and we promptly reported it to the relevant authorities, including the fire department, in accordance with the procedures." The official noted, "It is estimated that the gas leaked from the consolidation connection section within the gas base."
On that day, an E1 Incheon base factory employee reported to 119, saying, "LPG gas has leaked," and the fire department dispatched 27 pieces of equipment, including pump trucks, and about 50 firefighters. The fire department confirmed that the leaked valve was shut off 41 minutes after the gas leak.
An E1 official noted, "We identified the gas leak point and implemented valve shut-off measures, as well as sprinkler measures," adding, "Thanks to the prompt reporting and response, there were no fires, explosions, or casualties."
According to the fire department, it is estimated that the gas leaked from the pipes during the process of transferring propane gas from a vessel to the E1 Incheon base. The fire department and police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident.
