Law&Company, a legal tech corporation, announced on the 5th that it has been selected as one of five elite teams to participate in the 'Independent Artificial Intelligence (AI) Foundation Model' project, which is supervised by the Ministry of Science and ICT and led by Upstage.
The Independent AI Foundation Model project is a program aimed at selecting 'national representative AI' based on public-private partnerships to build sovereign AI with international competitiveness. Among the 15 consortiums that applied for the project, 10 teams were selected after a document evaluation, and after the presentation evaluation, a total of five teams were chosen on the 4th.
The Upstage consortium, which includes Law&Company, received high marks for its plan to create an AI innovation ecosystem in key industrial sectors such as law, manufacturing, and defense through the development of 'Solar WBL (World Best Large Language Model).'
The Upstage consortium is composed of a total of 13 institutions, including Law&Company. Law&Company will be responsible for developing industry-specific solutions based on its service experience in demonstrating AI technology in the legal field within the model diffusion sector for the creation of an international standard AI ecosystem.
Last year, Law&Company signed a business agreement for the joint development of 'Solar-Legal,' a foundation model specialized in law, with Upstage. It also formed a consortium with Upstage for the 'AI Legal Assistance Service Expansion Project New Task' supervised by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency.
