LOTTE Global Logistics announced on the 1st that it has established a period for enhanced preventive activities to manage the heat-related illness incidents that can occur among workers in logistics.
The special management activities have been operating since June. Measures such as concentrated inspections on heat-vulnerable environments, improvements to the environment, and support for supplies are being implemented.
Delivery drivers are given the authority to stop work, allowing them to notify their agency and stop home delivery work if they judge there is a health issue due to heat-related illness.
Workers at the logistics center are also guaranteed rest rights, requiring them to take breaks of more than 20 minutes every 2 hours if the workplace temperature exceeds 33 degrees Celsius. Additionally, customized break schedules have been applied in logistics centers operating at various times during the day and night.
Portable air conditioners and other cooling and ventilation devices have been additionally installed at logistics sites nationwide, and the on-site electrical capacity has also been improved to mitigate the risks of electrical outages due to surging power usage.
Furthermore, the company is implementing measures such as support for heat illness prevention supplies such as bottled water, salt glucose, and cooling clothing; regular training on emergency measures for heat-related illnesses; and health consultations linked to health centers for workers.
Management for LOTTE Global Logistics during the hot weather season is scheduled to continue until the end of September, with plans to continuously review and extend the period and provide additional support based on temperature changes.
