Chairman Choi Yoon-beom of Korea Zinc announced plans to make a new leap forward based on the new business troika drive (renewable energy and green hydrogen, secondary battery materials, and resource recycling) as the company marks its 51st anniversary.
During the 51st anniversary ceremony held at the company's headquarters in Jongno District, Seoul, Chairman Choi stated, "The new business troika drive is no longer a hope or declaration, but a strategy with substance, and a reality that we are actually creating." He added, "Waves will continue to crash, but if we are together, Korea Zinc can once again surprise the world." On this day, Chairman Choi presented souvenirs to long-serving employees.
Korea Zinc is strengthening the competitiveness of its troika drive business. In the fields of renewable energy and hydrogen, it is leading the energy transition through partial operations at the MacIntyre wind farm in Australia and demonstration projects for green hydrogen production and charging facilities, known as SunHQ (SunHQ Hydrogen Hub).
In the secondary battery materials sector, it has solidified its position in the global supply chain of key minerals through copper foil production, mass production of high-nickel precursors, and the construction of an all-in-one nickel refinery. In the resource recycling field, it is maximizing resource recovery from waste and by-products based on world-class smelting technology.
Chairman Choi addressed the management dispute with the Young Poong-MBK Partners alliance that has continued since last year, stating, "During the past 11 months of enduring a storm, we did not give up and did not stop while looking in the same direction."
Chairman Choi remarked, "In September of last year, we faced a shocking challenge to all of us. The unexpected hostile takeover attempt fundamentally forced us to reconsider the reason for our company's existence and the values we must uphold." He continued, "What has gradually become clearer over time is the mission and values we established together on our 50th anniversary, and above all, the power of solidarity that we did not even know existed within us."
