HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced on the 30th that it would immediately halt operations if safety rules related to the nine 'absolute unacceptable accidents' such as falls and entrapments are violated. This measure aims to fundamentally eliminate the possibility of serious accidents.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to fully implement its new safety and health management system, The Safe Care, starting on the 18th of next month. The Safe Care system designates nine core risk factors, including falls, entrapments, electric shocks, asphyxiation, and fires, as absolute unacceptable accidents for focused management. The nine risk factors were designated based on an analysis of serious accident cases in the shipbuilding industry.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries stated that it would take immediate and severe actions equivalent to serious accidents even if an actual accident did not occur when safety rules related to absolute unacceptable accidents are violated. Organizations found in violation will receive an immediate work stoppage order for the same tasks. A comprehensive improvement plan to enhance safety culture must be established and implemented before work can resume.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to conduct safety technology guidance aimed at its group companies and partners and to establish a focused management model for high-risk groups.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries explained that "completely eradicating the possibility of predictable serious accidents on-site is the core of this system."
