HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has been selected as the preferred bidder for the development project of the performance improvement system for the 214-class submarine (Jangbogo-Ⅱ).
According to the defense industry on the 27th, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration recently evaluated the bidding proposals for the performance enhancement project of the 214-class submarine and selected HD Hyundai Heavy Industries as the preferred negotiator on the 25th.
This project aims to improve the integrated combat system of submarines that are over 20 years old using approximately 500 billion won in funding based on the latest technology. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries participated in the bidding alongside LIG Nex1, while Hanwha Ocean collaborated with Hanwha Systems.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is reported to have been highly evaluated for having built 6 out of the existing 9 vessels of the 214-class submarine despite security penalties.
