Doosan announced on the 25th that its preliminary sales for the second quarter of this year reached 5.3464 trillion won and operating profit was 357.8 billion won.
Sales increased by 16.4% compared to the same period last year, while operating profit rose by 6.3%. Net profit for the period was 233.2 billion won, up 7.8%.
The increase in Doosan's sales is attributed to improvements in its own operations and the performance of Doosan Enerbility. The performance of Doosan's own operations recorded sales of 558.6 billion won and operating profit of 142 billion won, which marked increases of 76.3% and 263.2%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
In particular, the Electronics Business Group (BG) achieved its highest quarterly sales as sales of materials for next-generation networks significantly grew. Doosan's explanation noted that the proportion of high-end product sales in the Electronics BG increased to 81% in the first half of this year, and it is expected to continue this growth trend in the second half.
Doosan Enerbility recorded sales of 4.569 trillion won and operating profit of 271.1 billion won for the second quarter of this year. Sales increased by 10.1% compared to a year ago, while operating profit fell by 12.5%. On a separate basis, sales reached 2.0761 trillion won, and operating profit was 145.6 billion won, showing increases of 33.4% and 24% compared to the same period last year.
Doosan Enerbility's order intake for the first half of the year was 3.7573 trillion won. Orders for overseas gas power projects, among others, increased by 98.4% compared to last year. The order backlog stands at 16.0115 trillion won, an increase of 1.3 trillion won from last year.
