Hanwha Group announced on the 21st that it would donate 2 billion won to the National Disaster Relief Association for the swift recovery of areas affected by the recent heavy rains.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, about 7,200 disaster victims have been reported due to the heavy rains. In particular, serious damage to human life and property occurred in areas such as Changnyeong in Gyeongnam, Gapyeong in Gyeonggi, and Seosan in Chungnam, where homes were flooded, roads were washed away, and landslides occurred.
Considering the severity of the damage, Hanwha plans to expand the scale of its donations to provide practical assistance to the affected residents and quickly implement support such as emergency living expenses, temporary housing arrangements, and provision of daily necessities.
Hanwha Group has consistently supported recovery efforts whenever large-scale disasters have occurred in the past, striving to fulfill its corporate social responsibility. In March, it donated 1 billion won to support the victims of large-scale forest fires in Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan, and has contributed funds for recovery from heavy rains and various forest fire damages in 2023 as well.
In addition, Hanwha Life and HANWHA GENERAL INSURANCE will provide special assistance to customers affected by the heavy rains, including deferring insurance premium payments and loan repayments, facilitating the receipt of accident insurance claims, and ensuring prompt payments. Also, Hanwha Ocean will support vehicles and meals for volunteers aiding in flood recovery efforts in severely affected Changnyeong, Gyeongnam.
A Hanwha Group official said, "We want to lend a helping hand so that many people who have lost their homes and are struggling due to the record-breaking downpour can quickly return to their daily lives," and added, "I hope this donation will provide practical help for prompt damage recovery and living stability, bringing warm comfort and hope to the affected residents."
