LG Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Institute announced on the 21st that Vice President Lee Hong-rak and Senior Managing Director Lim Woo-hyung (Senior Lab Head) have been appointed as new co-research directors.
Director Lee Hong-rak is recognized as an authority in the fields of machine learning and deep learning, having been selected as one of the top 10 AI researchers in the world by the LG AI Research Institute as a Chief Scientist in AI (CSAI).
Director Lee has been leading research at the 'LG Global AI Center' under the research institute in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, driving the development of next-generation AI technologies and the expansion of the global AI ecosystem. He is also a professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Michigan.
Director Lim Woo-hyung is recognized as an expert in machine learning and speech recognition, conducting AI applied research using Exa, and has been evaluated as having solved various challenges arising in affiliate businesses and industrial sites.
An LG official noted, 'The two new co-research directors are expected to create synergy in the U.S. and domestically, leading LG's business innovation,' adding, 'The term as co-research directors begins on the 21st of this month.'
