KD Navien has ventured into indoor air quality management business beyond boilers and warm water mats. The launch of the 'dehumidifying ventilation cleaner' targets home and corporation customers.
On the 17th, KD Navien held a new product launch event and announced the release of the 'dehumidifying ventilation cleaner,' expanding its indoor air quality management business.
The dehumidifying ventilation cleaner filters ultrafine dust when external air enters indoors and expels harmful substances from indoor air. It also helps maintain indoor humidity comfortably, allowing for air quality and humidity management without opening windows.
It employs two methods: one that utilizes refrigerants to condense moisture in the air into water vapor and another that absorbs remaining moisture with a rotary plate made of polymer dehumidifying material.
KD Navien noted, 'Existing dehumidifiers make indoor air hot, and air conditioners have limitations in lowering indoor temperatures, but this product can control humidity without temperature changes,' adding that 'it can dehumidify up to 28 liters per day and is equipped with an automatic drainage system that eliminates the need to empty the water tank.'
KD Navien has grown as a mid-sized company based on its core businesses of boilers and warm water heaters. It surpassed 1 trillion won in consolidated sales in 2021, recorded 1.16 trillion won in sales in 2022, and increased to 1.35 trillion won last year, marking a 16.6% rise. During the same period, operating profit was 132.6 billion won, and net profit was 124.3 billion won, both more than doubling. It achieved good results as its share in the North American market for warm water heater products increased.
Thanks to stable growth based on its boilers and warm water heaters, it turned its investment eye toward the indoor air quality management business. Since it has solidified its presence in the home appliance market with boilers, warm water heaters, and sleep mats, it believes that gaining competitiveness in the large indoor air quality management sector can secure new growth momentum.
The Ministry of Environment has estimated the domestic indoor air quality-related market size to be around 5 trillion won. The British market research firm Technavio projected that the global indoor air quality management market will grow to about 17 trillion won by 2026.
KD Navien explained, 'We ventured into the ventilation market for the first time in 2006 and launched ventilation cleaners in 2021 to grow our air quality business', adding that 'we plan to develop the 'dehumidifying ventilation cleaner' into a platform hub by expanding connectivity with boilers, warm water mats, kitchen appliances, and sleep mats.'
The dehumidifying ventilation cleaner targets both corporations and individual consumers. It has been reported that reconstruction housing associations and design offices have reflected this product in their designs. Priced at about 2.9 million won, it may be a burden for individual consumers, but a subscription product priced at about 50,000 won per month is also in preparation.
A representative from KD Navien stated, 'I don't think there is a large consumer base yet, and it will take some time,' but added that 'we believe it could be welcomed in humid and hot Southeast Asia, so we plan to push into overseas markets through collaboration with local research institutions and companies.'
