S-OIL announced on the 8th that it has signed a business agreement with G2POWER to develop an energy storage system (ESS) based on immersion cooling technology.
G2POWER successfully developed a new immersion cooling ESS product based on artificial intelligence (AI) control using S-OIL's immersion cooling oil. The two companies plan to challenge the commercialization of the immersion cooling ESS within this year through this agreement.
The immersion cooling ESS from G2POWER is characterized by a revolutionary reduction in fire and explosion risks compared to traditional air-cooled systems. It saves up to 30% in operating energy and improves charging and discharging efficiency by about 10%. By controlling the heat generation in each battery module, it also eliminates fire hazards.
S-OIL and G2POWER will continue to cooperate in the development of immersion cooling systems for data centers in the future.
An S-OIL official noted, "The commercialization of immersion cooling technology in the ESS market is expected to progress rapidly. We will continue to invest in and develop technology."
