Mercedes-AMG participated as the official promotion partner for the movie 'F1 The Movie,' starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, unveiling a limited edition model 'Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ APXGP Edition.'
The movie 'F1 The Movie,' filmed during actual Formula 1® races worldwide, offers genuine racing action along with appealing characters and a powerful story and is currently showing in domestic theaters. As of the 1st, it surpassed 580,000 cumulative viewers, leading the box office.
Mercedes-AMG not only transmitted the expertise of the Formula 1® team for film production but also supported high-performance vehicles and sports car models included in the current brand portfolio. Consequently, the screen features not only the official FIA Formula 1® safety and medical vehicles but also various models such as the Mercedes-AMG SL, G-Class, and GT, captivating the audience.
The 'Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ APXGP Edition' is characterized by various design elements and equipment details inspired by the design of the fictional racing team APXGP Formula 1® team in the film, and it is available in a limited run of just 52 units worldwide. The APXGP Edition was first unveiled during the F1® Miami Grand Prix last May ahead of the movie's release.
Firstly, the vehicle's exterior is painted in the APXGP exclusive edition color, with the distinctive design of the Formula 1® team meticulously applied by hand. In particular, the addition of 'race gold' color points to both the interior and exterior stands out; the exterior showcases the combination of 'race gold' seen in the AMG signature radiator grille frame, front wing, side skirts, rear apron, and diffuser blades. The 21-inch cross-spoke AMG forged wheels painted in matte race gold are complemented by black brake calipers on the rear, creating visual contrast.
In addition, the application of the AMG Night Package II added unique visual design elements for the 'APXGP Edition' with black chrome material on the radiator trim, AMG crest, typography, and rear Mercedes star.
The interior also catches the eye with race gold colored details added to the seat stitching, steering wheel, door panels, instrument panel, and center console. The Manufaktur door sill trim features the AMG logo in black anodized treatment, illuminated with gold. The floor mats are embroidered with the letters 'APXGP.' The center console has a badge indicating the model number 'Limited Edition 1 of 52,' emphasizing its limited edition status.
The APXGP Edition is a model combining dynamic driving performance and practicality, equipped with AMG Active Ride Control suspension, rear axle steering supporting rear-wheel steering, and active aerodynamic systems, maximizing driving performance. The vehicle is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine delivering 585 horsepower (hp), providing a top-level driving experience, while also enhancing space efficiency through folding 2+2 seats and a spacious trunk.
Meanwhile, in 'F1 The Movie,' Brad Pitt appears as a former driver returning to F1®, while Damson Idris plays his APXGP team colleague. The film was shot over the weekend when actual F1® Grand Prix events take place, capturing scenes of competition against the strongest competitors in the F1® arena.
The direction and production of the film were handled by Joseph Kosinski, director of 'Top Gun: Maverick,' with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman participating as co-producers from Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner co-produced through Plan B Entertainment, while Lewis Hamilton participated through his production company, Dawn Apollo Films. The film was produced in collaboration with the Formula 1® and F1® community, including 10 teams and drivers, the FIA, and race organizers. Penny Toogood, CEO of Copper, served as the executive producer.
