Coupang Play will broadcast the '2025 FIA Formula One World Championship (F1)' British Grand Prix live on-site for the first time in Korea, conveying the intense heat and atmosphere of the Silverstone Circuit.
This British Grand Prix is drawing global fan attention as it marks Lewis Hamilton's first home race after his move to Ferrari and takes place at the 'home of F1', Silverstone. With McLaren continuing its upward trend, Red Bull seeking a rebound, and mid-tier teams competing for podium spots, it is expected to become a turning point in the season rankings.
Coupang Play offers a full package that broadcasts all sessions live, from practice to qualifying to the race. The heat of the scene will be vividly conveyed with live coverage of Practice 1 and 2 on the 4th at 8:15 p.m., Practice 3 on the 5th at 7:15 p.m., qualifying at 10 p.m., and the main race on the 6th at 10 p.m.
Coupang Play will present this British Grand Prix with exclusive F1 content that can only be experienced on-site. A preview show featuring commentator Yoon Jae-soo and caster Ahn Hyung-jin will air one hour before qualifying and the main race, providing team strategy analysis and viewing points to deepen the broadcast while offering fans a richer viewing experience.
Commentator Yoon Jae-soo will introduce special content that allows viewers to experience the speed and cornering of F1 racing from the perspective of an expert by riding in a Pirelli hot lap car, further enhancing the immersion of the on-site broadcast.
In addition, various on-site content will be provided, including track walking, a visit to the Williams Racing team's headquarters, and interviews with aerodynamics team leader Dr. Kim Hyo-won and Jessica Hawkins, a female driver and Aston Martin ambassador. Announcer Jin Se-min will also be deployed on-site to vividly convey the heat of the paddock, media zone, fan zone, and the drivers' reactions.
In particular, there will be an interview with Han Se-young, the first Korean to debut on the F1 stage. Han Se-young is a Korean-British driver born to a Korean mother and a British father, who won the overall title in the 2015 Formula Renault 2.0 Alps series, made his debut in F2 in 2018, and entered the F1 stage as a reserve driver for the Williams team in 2020.
Commentator Yoon Jae-soo noted, "Silverstone is a special track that all drivers acknowledge and a circuit where the tradition of F1 lives on," adding, "Coupang Play's on-site broadcast will provide an even more immersive viewing experience for this race, where numerous strategies and drama will intersect."
Coupang Play will travel to the venues of a total of five Grand Prix in the 2025 season, including Japan and the UK, for live broadcasts and reporting. In the latter half of the season, it will broadcast the Singapore Grand Prix live on-site, and for the final race in Abu Dhabi, on-site reporting will convey the finale of the race. During the summer break, special content created with F1 experts will also be released.
