Han Seong-suk, the nominee for Minister of the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups, reported a total of 18.2 billion won in assets, including land, stocks, and virtual assets in her name. If including unexercised stock options, the total assets increase to 44 billion won. If Han is appointed as Minister, she will become the wealthiest Minister among those who have served since the civilian government.
According to a list of asset declarations for public office candidates released on the 1st by the office of Lee Jong-bae, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, Han reported her personal assets as 18.21419 billion won.
The values of unreported assets, including Naver stock options (stock purchase selection) and performance-based stocks (RSU), are each 25.44 billion won and 433.96 million won, respectively, bringing her total asset value to 44.09415 billion won. Han served as CEO of Naver from 2017 to 2022.
Most of the reported assets were stocks. The reported value of stocks in her name totaled 4.07808 billion won. The stocks of Naver, where she served as CEO, accounted for about half of this, with approximately 2.3 billion won reported.
Among stocks excluding Naver, the largest holding was in Tesla, valued at 1.03423 billion won (2,166 shares). This was followed by Apple (246.68 million won; 894 shares), Palantir (111.13 million won; 580 shares), and NVIDIA (92 million won; 466 shares), indicating she held overseas tech stocks.
Additionally, the value of Ethereum was 4.66 million won and Bitcoin was 15.03 million won. There were also deposits of 4.11317 billion won held at financial institutions like Shinhan Bank and Shinyoung Securities. The value of land in her name alone amounted to 3.68203 billion won, and the value of owned apartments and single-family homes was reported at 9.73463 billion won.
Lee Jong-bae noted, "We will verify whether Han, who has the largest wealth in history, has the capability to understand the difficulties faced by small businesses and medium-sized enterprises."
