HMM announced on the 17th that it has received the 'Platinum' grade awarded to the top 1% in the evaluation conducted by the French ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) assessment agency EcoVadis for two consecutive years.
EcoVadis assesses the ESG performance of more than 100,000 corporations annually. The evaluation consists of four categories: ▲environment, ▲labor and human rights, ▲ethics, and ▲sustainability.
Based on the results, grades are assigned as follows: Platinum (top 1%), Gold (top 5%), Silver (top 15%), and Bronze (top 35%). The Platinum grade obtained by HMM indicates that it is a trusted corporation within the supply chain that effectively manages risks.
EcoVadis ESG evaluations are utilized as an important criterion for global corporations in supply chain management and partner selection, and financial institutions use them as key indicators when assessing non-financial risks of corporations.
An HMM official said, "This year, we received high scores not only in the environmental sector where we had previously shown strengths but also in the labor and human rights and ethics institutional sectors. Efforts such as obtaining family-friendly certification, enhancing board diversity, and conducting supply chain due diligence led to these results."
