Nutraight announced on the 9th that its developed 'Lime Peel Extract' has been recognized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its potential to improve sleep quality.
Nutraight is a teacher-founded company established in 2021 by Professor Cho Seung-mok from Pukyong National University, which has been developing sleep functional ingredients using materials derived from nature.
Nutraight stated that the sleep improvement effects of Lime Peel Extract have been scientifically proven through cellular and animal tests as well as human application studies. It explained that Lime Peel Extract activates gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the central nervous system, increasing deep sleep.
In particular, the human application study using polysomnography showed significant improvements in key sleep indicators, such as increased sleep efficiency, decreased time to fall asleep, increased total sleep time, and decreased awakenings after sleep onset. Among these, sleep efficiency increased by 8.5%, a level comparable to well-known sleep medications.
The results of preclinical and clinical studies on this Lime Peel Extract were published in the renowned journals 'Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy' and 'Phytomedicine'.
Nutraight plans to launch various sleep health functional foods containing this Lime Peel Extract. It has signed exclusive supply contracts with distributors in North America, including the United States and Canada, as well as a domestic distribution contract with Green Store this year in January.
