The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency announced on the 5th that it held the 'Korean Small and Medium Enterprises Day' event at the Seattle Convention Center in the United States.
This event, which began the previous day, was organized to support the entry of domestic artificial intelligence (AI) startups into the North American market. The KOSME Seattle K-Startup Center and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle jointly hosted the event.
The event was attended by Lee Byeong-cheol, Vice President of KOSME; Seo Eun-ji, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle; Joseph Nguyen, Secretary of the Washington State Department of Commerce; and representatives from local governments, institutions, and corporations, including Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple, NVIDIA, Expedia, Madrona Ventures, and Morgan Stanley, totaling over 150 attendees.
The city of Seattle designated June 4th as 'Korean Small and Medium Enterprises Day' for the first time last year. KOSME plans to host the second event this year to regularize it as a key event for entering the North American market.
At last year's inaugural event, a memorandum of understanding was signed to create a foundation for collaboration between the U.S. and Korean SMEs, with exchanges centered around green technology and the eco-friendly industry.
This year, the focus was on strategic technology areas such as AI. Fifteen Korean startups showcased AI-based technologies including ▲AI security robots ▲drone control ▲road hazard information provision ▲traffic control ▲energy management ▲OTT advertising ▲digital humans ▲elderly care, and engaged in networking with global partners. Eight promising startups from Daejeon were also invited.
Lee Byeong-cheol, Vice President of KOSME, said, 'We will support domestic corporations equipped with technology to enter overseas markets stably through practical connections with the international investment ecosystem.'
