Hanwha Aerospace (Hanwha Aerospace) announced on the 2nd that Michael Coulter, the representative of Hanwha Global Defense, attended the 21st Asia Security Conference (Shangri-La Dialogue) held in Singapore for two days starting from the 31st of last month.
Hanwha Aerospace explained that this is the first time a Korean corporation has attended the Shangri-La Dialogue. The Shangri-La Dialogue is the largest annual security conference in Asia, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), where defense ministers and senior military officials from various countries gather to discuss security issues in the Indo-Pacific region.
During the event, President Michael Coulter met with senior defense officials from key countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Malaysia, and Finland. He also held meetings with senior officials from global defense corporations such as BAE Systems and Palantir to discuss ways to expand cooperation, including strategic defense partnerships.
Hanwha noted that the participation in this event is significant as it indicates that Korean defense corporations are beginning to be recognized as part of the global security discourse, beyond merely exporting weapons systems.
Michael Coulter, the representative of Hanwha Global Defense, said, "We will actively respond to changes in the global security environment and enhance our responsible role as a defense corporation. We aim to expand strategic partnerships on a global scale beyond the Indo-Pacific and establish ourselves as a key pillar of sustainable security cooperation."
