Volkswagen Korea officially launches the new large SUV "The New Atlas" in the Korean market. The R-Line 7-seater is priced at 67.7 million won, and the R-Line 6-seater at 68.486 million won (*VAT included, special consumption tax of 3.5% applied).
The Atlas is a large SUV first introduced in the U.S. market in 2017 as a strategic model, showcasing robust completeness through German engineering and proving its spacious utilization and practicality in the U.S. market.
The new Atlas introduced in the Korean market is the latest model launched in the U.S. market in 2024, featuring significant improvements in external design and interior, along with a new engine. The Atlas ranked as the second best-selling Volkswagen model in the U.S. last year, following the Tiguan LWB, achieving a remarkable 24.1% sales growth compared to the previous year, making it a bestselling SUV in the U.S., the home of large SUVs.
The new Atlas is the first large SUV unveiled by Volkswagen Korea in Korea and boasts segment-leading body dimensions, ample space, powerful driving performance, and advanced specifications required for a large SUV.

The new Atlas proudly showcases a bold presence unique to large SUVs through its segment-leading body and robust exterior created with Volkswagen's latest design language.
The new Atlas, boasting a segment-leading body size, is the largest Volkswagen model built on the Volkswagen Group's innovative MQB modular platform. It comes with a length of 5,095 mm, the longest among currently available large SUVs in the Korean market, along with a width of 1,990 mm and a height of 1,780 mm.
The new Atlas introduced in the Korean market features a motorsport-inspired R-Line design package as standard, showcasing a luxurious yet dynamic design. The front section includes LED headlamps and wraparound-style LED daytime running lights (DRL) surrounding the radiator grille, creating a strong presence along with the illuminated front logo at the center of the body.
The black monotone R-Line radiator grille and R-Line front bumper that add a sporty touch enhance the dynamism of the new Atlas, while the R-Line side emblem affixed to the front door and 21-inch alloy wheels add bold charm to the side. Additionally, stylish silver-colored roof rails are standard, providing practicality for various outdoor and leisure activities.
The rear section is equipped with LED rear combination lamps that are connected for a sense of consolidation, while the illuminated rear logo located at the center of the taillamps completes a unique graphic. The lower part of the body adds stylishness with a body-colored rear bumper and chrome dual exhaust pipes.
The new Atlas offers a variety of eight color options that match the weighty and active image of a large SUV: Aurora Red, Mountain Lake Blue, Avocado Green Pearl, Platinum Gray Metallic, Deep Black Pearl, Silver Mist Metallic, Pure Gray, and Pure White.

The driver's seat includes a 10.25-inch "Digital Cockpit Pro" and a "windscreen-type head-up display" as standard, helping drivers check information intuitively while driving. Features like a multifunction steering wheel with an "R" logo, electronic gear selector, and brushed stainless steel pedals are also standard, enhancing operational feel and adding a sophisticated atmosphere to the interior.
The new Atlas has a deluxe and comfortable interior space that suits various lifestyles and a versatile ability to adapt space. It comes equipped with premium "Vienna leather seats" featuring a quilted pattern for added luxury, and front seats with 8-way power adjustment, heating, ventilation, massage, and electric lumbar support (including driver's memory function).
The new Atlas offers two seating types: a 7-seater with a "2+3+2" configuration and a 6-seater with a "2+2+2" configuration. The 7-seater model features a 3-seat bench with 60:40 folding in the second row, accommodating many passengers conveniently, while the 2nd-row captain's seats in the 6-seater model maximize comfort for 2nd-row passengers. It also has heated seats in the 2nd row and "3-zone Climatronic automatic air conditioning" that allows independent temperature adjustment, equipped with 45W high-output USB-C charging ports for versatile device usage.
The 3rd-row seats, supporting 50:50 folding, provide ample legroom and easy boarding and alighting capability. With this feature, the indoor space accommodates up to 6-7 adults comfortably, and the 2nd and 3rd-row seats can be folded partially or completely to create various space configurations.
The trunk capacity of the new Atlas is segment-leading, with a standard capacity of 583 liters, increasing to 1,572 liters with the 3rd row folded, and a maximum of 2,735 liters with the 2nd row folded. Notably, it supports "flat folding," providing a flat floor space when all seats are folded, boasting exceptional spatial utility for any environment, making it suitable for various outdoor leisure activities such as camping, surfing, and fishing.
The Volkswagen new Atlas comes standard with the most advanced convenience and safety specifications required for a large SUV.
It is equipped with a highly visible 12-inch large-screen infotainment system that allows intuitive control of key vehicle functions and systems, with wireless App-Connect and voice control capabilities also supported. The area view function, which aids safe and convenient parking in tight spaces, is also included as standard.
A separate storage space with high utility is provided at the bottom of the center fascia, and various indoor atmospheres can be created through "30-color ambient lighting." The large-size panoramic sunroof, which provides excellent openness along with 2nd-row window sunshades preferred by Korean customers, is standard, making it handy for long-distance travel or car camping.
In addition, the "Harman Kardon® premium sound system" including a center speaker and subwoofer is standard, delivering ideal car audio sound.
The new Atlas also comes standard with a "remote start function" that allows the driver to control the engine before driving and activate the vehicle's heating and cooling functions, preparing for departure before getting in. The driver can start the engine with simple smart key operations, providing a comfortable environment immediately upon entering, even in the hot summer or cold winter.
The new Atlas possesses excellent crash safety and is equipped with advanced driving assistance functions that Volkswagen boasts. The Volkswagen new Atlas incorporates a powerful and efficient gasoline engine along with an electronic AWD system to provide stable performance in various driving environments.
It is equipped with an EA888evo4 2.0L inline 4-cylinder gasoline turbo TSI engine that delivers an outstanding performance with a maximum output of 273 horsepower (PS) and maximum torque of 37.7 kg.m. Notably, it produces maximum torque in the practical range of 1,600-4,750 rpm, allowing a lively driving experience for daily driving.
The 2.0 TSI engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, providing a smooth driving sensation, while the electronically controlled advanced 4MOTION AWD system delivers stable driving power under various road conditions. It also offers an "Active Control & Driving Mode Selection" feature with off-road/snow modes, in addition to eco/comfort/sport/custom modes, ensuring optimal driving performance in diverse environments.
The powerful yet efficient powertrain combines with the Atlas's body, which has an air resistance coefficient (Cd) of only 0.33, providing a commendable fuel efficiency of 8.5 km/L (urban 7.6 km/L / highway 10.1 km/L) certified in South Korea. Despite its large body size, it also boasts economic advantages such as reduced motor vehicle taxes due to its compact displacement.
The new Atlas is equipped with a trailer hitch as standard, allowing for convenient enjoyment of various outdoor and leisure activities based on its powerful driving performance. This enables towing of trailers, caravans, etc., without the need for separate structural modification, with a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds (approximately 2,268 kg).
The Volkswagen new Atlas is introduced in a single trim of 2.0 TSI 4MOTION R-Line, offered in two trims based on seat configuration. The pricing for the new Atlas is 67.7 million won for the R-Line 7-seater and 68.486 million won for the R-Line 6-seater (*VAT included, special consumption tax of 3.5% applied).
Additionally, customers who purchase the new Atlas can receive purchase benefits of up to 2 million won when trading in their previous vehicle, and 1 million won cashback if they currently own a Volkswagen vehicle.
Along with that, the "Volkswagen certified black box" and "welcome kit" are provided, including a "5-year/150,000 km free warranty extension program" for the black box, a "3-year service program," and a "total care service for accident repairs" that covers the deductible up to 500,000 won for up to 5 times during the first year without mileage restrictions, as well as compensation for restoration costs (bodywork, painting) if any damage such as scratches or dents occurs to designated vehicle areas within the first year or 20,000 km (up to 2 million won per claim), and a "parts protection program" that compensates for replacement costs when the windshield, side mirrors, or tires are damaged within the first year or 20,000 km (one claim limit). These premium care services significantly reduce the cost burden of vehicle maintenance.
