Gu Bon-kyu, the representative of LS Cable & System, was invited to and attended a dinner hosted by Eric Trump, the son of U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to LS Cable & System on the 22nd, Representative Gu attended a dinner for the groundbreaking ceremony of a 2 trillion won resort development project promoted by Trump's family business, the Trump Organization, in Hanoi, Vietnam, on the 21st.
This invitation was extended as a gesture of gratitude for LS Cable & System's investment in its U.S. underwater cable factory. LS Cable & System is also seeking to participate in the power and communication infrastructure projects required for the resort development.
On the 21st, LS Cable & System held the ASEAN Power Workshop in Hanoi for two days to review its strategies for localizing high-voltage direct current (HVDC) power networks and underwater projects. The workshop was attended by executives from LS Cable & System and representatives from key affiliates such as LS Eco Energy and LS Marine Solution.
During this period, LS Cable & System met with Le Man Hung, the chairman of PetroVietnam, the state-owned energy company of Vietnam, to discuss tax benefits and subsidies required for the construction of the underwater cable factory.
LS Cable & System noted, "Vietnam is a strategic region poised to grow as a key hub for the global HVDC power network," adding, "We will strengthen our lead in the ASEAN market through the expansion of comprehensive projects, including underwater as well as underground power networks and data infrastructure."
