HD Hyundai recently announced on the 6th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the global shipping and logistics corporation A.P. Moller-Maersk to establish a comprehensive cooperative relationship in the development of decarbonization shipping technology and global integrated logistics services.
Through this MOU, HD Hyundai will expand Maersk's integrated logistics services to its subsidiaries, strengthening the global supply chain. Maersk intends to apply HD Hyundai's cutting-edge ship decarbonization technology to its fleet to reduce carbon emissions.
The two companies will conduct a six-month trial operation using the 'Hynas' navigation optimization solution from Avikus, HD Hyundai's autonomous navigation subsidiary, and the artificial intelligence (AI)-based decarbonization and economical operation solution 'OceanWise' from HD Hyundai Marine Solution on the Maersk container ships built and delivered by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. This will validate the fuel savings and carbon reduction effects of the navigation optimization solution.
In addition, customized logistics services will be applied to some subsidiaries such as HD Hyundai XiteSolution and HD Hyundai Marine Solution, and Maersk's integrated logistics services will be gradually expanded to all subsidiaries.
HD Hyundai Vice Chairman Jeong Gi-sun noted, "We will aim to build a sustainable marine logistics network that ensures safety, reduces carbon emissions, and achieves optimal efficiency by rapidly advancing our world-class shipbuilding technology."
