Italian luxury car brand Maserati will officially launch its pure electric vehicles, the "GranTurismo Folgore" and the "GranCabrio Folgore," in South Korea.
The GranTurismo Folgore is Maserati's first pure electric vehicle and elevates the iconic GranTurismo, which represents the brand, to the pinnacle of innovation. The sibling model, the GranCabrio Folgore, also features a 100% electric powertrain, providing a new level of open-air driving experience.
Maserati Korea, following the official launch of the Grecale Folgore, has introduced the GranTurismo Folgore and the GranCabrio Folgore, completing its full lineup in Korea. Based on this, Maserati Korea is strengthening its presence in the domestic market with various powertrain options, including gasoline models equipped with the powerful Nettuno engine, mild hybrid (MHEV) models, and pure electric models.
The exterior of the GranTurismo Folgore and the GranCabrio Folgore features a timeless and unique design. The elongated hood and central body maintain the brand's classic proportions, which intersect with the four fenders, while the roof line dynamically descends to emphasize the elegant curves of the pillars. Additionally, it adds sportiness with the brand's new light signature featuring vertical lights.
The Folgore-exclusive grille features glossy black inserts on a silk black BASS, while the front splitter, handles, window molding (DLO), and rear handles are also finished in glossy black. The Maserati trident logo and "Folgore" lettering are completed in a dark copper color.
The dedicated splitter, diamond-cut gloss black wheels, and front diffuser improve the aerodynamic drag coefficient (Cx) by approximately 7% compared to the internal combustion engine version, contributing to optimizing driving range. Additionally, a Folgore-exclusive air inlet is positioned between the bumper and the wheel arch to reduce noise within the wheel arch.
The convertible GranCabrio Folgore features a soft top that provides an excellent open-air driving experience. The soft top can operate at speeds up to 50 km/h, and it takes only 14 seconds to open. The roof can be easily opened and closed with a touch button or finger gesture, and it comes standard with a neck warmer to keep the driver and passenger warm even with the roof open.
The interior combines cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship to achieve the "Balance of the Opposites." Luxurious materials that reflect the artisan's touch are harmonized with advanced technology, including a 12.3-inch central display, 8.8-inch comfort display, 12.2-inch digital dashboard, head-up display, digital clock, and digital rearview mirror, showcasing Maserati's unique "Italian luxury."
In particular, to consider sustainability, the new material "Econyl®" has been developed and used for the seats, ceiling, and pillars. Econyl is regenerated nylon made from discarded fishing nets and other materials collected from the ocean, and Maserati first introduced high-frequency leather printing technology, originally used in high-end leather product processes, to its vehicles to apply Econyl.
To emphasize the uniqueness of the Folgore version, the world's first laser processing technique has been applied to the interior, adding an unmatched personality to the dashboard finish and the inside of the doors.
The GranTurismo Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore have been designed to enjoy hyperperformance despite being electric vehicles. They are equipped with a 120Ah lithium-ion battery from LG Energy Solution based on 800V technology, which is produced at the Mirafiori Battery Hub assembly plant in Turin, Italy. Additionally, innovative battery configuration styles and layouts, along with battery module placement, lower the vehicle's center of gravity, maintaining its sportiness.
In particular, both models are equipped with a total of three 300 kW electric motors (one in the front and two in the rear). These motors are developed based on the electric motors used in the electric racing competition "Formula E," maintaining the brand's unique motorsport DNA. Furthermore, for performance, the motor's output is designed to be more powerful than the battery, allowing for 100% of total output to be utilized in rear-wheel drive mode, with up to 400 horsepower delivered to a single rear wheel.
Through this powertrain setup, they achieve a maximum output of 778 horsepower, with the top speed of the GranTurismo Folgore reaching 325 km/h and the GranCabrio Folgore achieving 290 km/h, showcasing exceptional performance. Additionally, the GranTurismo Folgore can travel up to 341 km on a single charge under combined conditions, while the GranCabrio Folgore can travel up to 321 km.
Moreover, to ensure the experience of Maserati's signature engine sound, the traditional sound of the V8 engine is reproduced using digital audio technology, providing an innovative sound experience even in electric vehicles.
The GranTurismo Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore are equipped with four driving modes optimized for various environments. The driving modes include "Max Range" to save energy and maximize driving distance, the standard driving mode "GT" to provide a typical "GranTurismo" experience, "Sport" for exhilarating performance even in everyday driving conditions, and "Corsa" to maximize performance for the most intense driving experience.
In particular, the regenerative braking system allows the vehicle to slow down while charging the high-voltage battery, and the intensity of regenerative braking can be freely adjusted in four levels while driving through paddles behind the steering wheel.
The GranTurismo Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore are equipped with various convenience items that enhance elegance beyond driving convenience for daily moments. Not only do they feature driver assistance functions, including the Maserati Active Driving Assist at Level 2 of the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), but they also provide an immersive driving experience with the "Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA)" multimedia system, Sonus Faber audio system, and support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In particular, a height-adjustable chassis based on air springs is also provided as standard.
