Honda Korea (CEO Lee Ji-hong) opened the first round of the motorcycle race event 2025 'Honda One Maker Race' at the Jeonnam Yeongam International Circuit (KIC) on the 27th. This competition, aimed at promoting motorsports culture, is already in its third year.
'Honda One Maker Race' is a race in which Honda Korea participates with two classes, 'Honda MSX Cup' and 'Honda Cub Cup,' under the Korea Mini-Moto Race Festival (KMRF) banner, using a single brand model. Honda One Maker Race is operated to provide anyone with an opportunity to easily challenge mini moto racing and experience the 'Fun Riding' that Honda motorcycles pursue, thus expanding the base of motorcycle culture.
The entry registration for the first round of the 2025 Honda One Maker Race held on the 27th totaled 28 entries, and 17 new participants made their debut in the Honda One Maker Race this year. At this round, Choi Ho-jin (Jaeho Rent Garage team) won the honor in the 'Honda MSX Cup,' while Kim Jong-hoon (MBRR.NRC team) claimed victory in the 'Honda Cub Cup.'
Now in its third year, the Honda One Maker Race has undergone three changes to further lower the barriers to entering motorcycle racing. First, the organizers changed the competition title from KMRC (Korea Mini-Moto Race Championship) to KMRF (Korea Mini-Moto Race Festival). This reflects the intention that the Korea Mini-Moto Race should not just be a 'competition' for competition's sake but a 'festival' that everyone can enjoy.
Additionally, Honda Korea has relaxed technical safety regulations on participating vehicles for those without racing experience. Modifications that require the skills of professional technicians, such as oil filler wire locks, fuel tank overdrain catch tank installations, guard mountings, and undercowl fittings, have become recommendations rather than requirements. Now, general individuals can participate in racing with easy modifications that do not require a technician, such as removing glass elements and taping lights.
To encourage new participants, Honda Korea is operating a total of 10 lending vehicles (5 MSX Groms and 5 Super Cubs) through the 'Honda Korea Official Team' MBRR team, allowing anyone, regardless of vehicle ownership, to experience participating in the competition. In this first round of the 2025 Honda One Maker Race, 70% (7 out of 10) of the lending vehicles from Honda Korea participated.
Participants entering through the Honda Korea official team also receive benefits. The entry fee of 180,000 won will be fully supported for first-time participants, and consumers can receive a 15% discount when purchasing a participating vehicle.
The 2025 Honda One Maker Race will hold a total of four rounds over approximately seven months, starting with the first round held on the 27th. The second round is set for June 22 (Sunday), the third round for August 10 (Sunday), and the fourth round on October 19 (Sunday).
