Volkswagen Korea announced on the 25th that it has begun customer deliveries of the coupe-style all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) "ID.5." ID.5 has been accepting pre-orders since January this year.
The ID.5 is a model launched following the brand's first electric vehicle ID.4, which debuted in Korea in 2022. ID.4 recorded the top sales of European brand electric vehicles in the Korean market for both last year and the first quarter of this year.
The ID.5 features a coupe style and offers improvements in overall product quality, including design, space efficiency, and battery performance compared to the ID.4. When fully charged, its driving range is 434 km, which is slightly longer than the ID.4's 421 km.
Using fast charging, it is possible to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes. The company explained that a battery heater function is applied to optimize battery performance regardless of the surrounding environment or temperature.
The official selling price of the ID.5 is 60.99 million won, and with the application of government, local government subsidies, special purchase subsidies, and Volkswagen purchase benefits, it can be purchased in the 45 million won range.
A Volkswagen Korea official noted, "Following the bestselling electric vehicle ID.4, we plan to solidify our leadership in imported electric vehicles with the ID.5," adding, "Domestic inventory of the ID.4 has been depleted early, and emergency shipments are scheduled to arrive by the end of next month."
